Our Heritage & Soil
Devoted to single-origin farming, fair relationships, and unadulterated flavor.
Preserving Real Taste
A Lifelong Passion for Honest, Earthy Aromas
Founded in 2016, Zest & Ember began not in a modern boardroom, but in rustic spice bazaars and family-run micro farms along mountain slopes and misty rainbelts.
Commercial industrial spices are often stripped of their essential oils and padded with fillers. We do things radically differently: our spices are slow sun-dried, micro-batched, and sealed fresh at the source to preserve the soil’s distinct character and punch.
- 100% fair-wage partnerships with regional family farmers
- Completely free from synthetic anti-caking agents
- Packed in UV-filtered, recyclable amber tin jars
Core Standards
The Four Pillars of Kakori
Living Volatile Oils
We test every crop harvest for natural essential oil density. Our spices are never solvent-extracted, steam-exhausted, or irradiated, preserving the deep medicinal terpenes nature intended.
Direct Micro-Farm Equity
By trading directly with family estates, our farmers receive over 35% above fair-trade baseline rates, securing fair wages and ancestral soil restoration.
Cold Stone Milling
Traditional slow friction ensures processing temperatures remain under 38°C, eliminating heat damage to fragile notes.
Infinite Amber Tin Packaging
We have eliminated plastic inner pouches entirely. Every blend is packed into food-grade, airtight, UV-filtered amber tins to stop aromatic breakdown from ambient sunlight.
Preserving Real Taste
A Lifelong Passion for Honest, Earthy Aromas
Commercial high-velocity hammer mills pulverize spices at blistering temperatures, cooking off volatile top notes before the jar even reaches your shelf. We slow down: our natural granite millstones turn at fractions of industrial speeds, preserving fragile aromatics inside every granule.
